Face up or head up?

My 7 years old daughter is doing her English homework. She wrote the following sentence: "My parents are face up looking at the cool sky" I reckon it does not sound right. I would have said "My parents are turning their heads up and looking at the cool sky" But not being a native English speaker myself, I am not confident of my suggestion. Is there any better alternative?

Hello! I would have recommended that she write: "My parents are looking up at the cool sky" if she is meaning in present tense as in right now. "My parents were looking up at the cool sky" if she meant past tense "My parents like to look up at the cool sky" if she means present tense as in a routine. Also, I would recommend that she include a different adjective for sky such as "clear blue sky" or "sky full of cool clouds," etc. I hope this helps your daughter! Congratulations to your future little writer!
