If I'm not mistaken, I recall that the Tibetan Plateau is referred to as the 'Rooftop of the World'. I believe this is due to the tremendous height at which the Tibetan Plateau is situated, girded along its southern frontier by the world's greatest mountain range, the Himalayas.
