Drawing Area turned white?

The drawing area in illustrator turned white -- I do not mean the art board. How do I change it back to gray?

There's been a lot of GUI changes lately and I find myself fumbling around with things too often. Open your Preferences panel and go to the User Interface tab. There you will see that you can change it from white to darker colors depending on the setting you have for interface brightness.
