The word "basically" usually means "approximately." In other words, not completely, but similar in a great many ways. Some of the similarities are; belief in one God, belief in a God who answers prayers and forgives sins, belief in Heaven and Hell as places where one goes after death, that we are to obey God and follow His laws. The main differences are: the resurrection of Christ - while Jews believe that Christ was a great man, they don't believe that He rose from the dead; and the concept of "chosen" - while Jews believe that only Jewish people have been uniquely chosen by God to be His people, Christians believe that salvation is available to everyone.
Do Jews and Christians basically have the same religion?
