Square inches to sq miles

I have a graphic image that is 256 pixels X 256 pixels . Each pixel represents 2 inches on the earth's surface (ground) . What I need to know is how many these graphic images I will need to make a square mile geography. Conversely I have 13 gb of image data for 1 square mile but need to know how many bytes are in each 2 inch pixel.

256 pixels divided by 2 = 128 inches

a mile = 4 laps around a 440 yard track = 4x440 = 1760 yards

a yard = 3 feet. 1760 yards = 3x1760 = 5280 feet

each foot = 12 inches.

5280 feet = 5280x12 = 63,360 inches = 1 mile

divide 63360 by 128 to get how many pixels represent 1 mile

63360/128 = 15840/32 = 3960/8 = 990/2 = 495 pixels to represent 1 mile

but you want a square mile, or 495 pixels by 495 pixels

It might be easier to use a calculator or a conversion table to go from inches to a mile

but the above is a long hand way to do it.
