Syntax structure refers to the order of words in a sentence. For example: typical sentence structure follows the format of subject - verb, such as "The dog ran." A simple subject (dog) followed by the verb (ran). Sentences can then be expanded upon by using adjectives to describe the dog and adverbs to describe the action. Using our original example: "The ferocious dog ran swiftly toward the rabbit." "Ferocious" tells us what type of dog and "swiftly" tells us the type of action the dog has taken.
