Hi,
To write algebraic expressions, you should make sure you become familiar with some of the key words used to express the information contained in the problem.
For example, "four more than" means we are adding four to something. What is that something? According to the problem we are adding "four more than" the "product of 17 and a number." What does product mean? In math, a product is the result of multiplying factors which are in the problem. For example, if I ask you what is the product of 6 and 3, you know to multiply those two numbers and the product is 18, right? Okay, so with this information, let's write the expression in the problem above.
17x + 4
