Is one allowed to use capitalization for emphasis?

In written English, is it okay to emphasize words by capitalizing them? As in: "I would NEVER do that!" Are there other methods to achieve this?

It depends on the type of writing. If you're writing something informal (e.g., a message or a blog post), that's fine. For more technical or formal writing, you'll want to use italics (or underlining, thought italics is more common).
