Do you mean the distal insertion of a muscle on a bone? The distal insertion on a bone for a muscle is the attachment site that does move when a muscle contracts. The origin is the attachment site that doesn't move during contraction. Distal means further away to the body. Origin means proximal (or closer).
For example:
-The origin of the quadriceps is the iliac spine of the hip bone
-The insertion is on the tuberosity of the tibia
When your quadriceps contract, it initiates the movement at the bone connected to the distal site.
