To start out you see that Alice sold a condominium for $65,000 and makes a 4% commission. You need to find out what 4% of $65,000 is so you know how much he makes. To do that you would take $65,000 and multiply it by 4%, which would give you $2,600. Now you know that he made a $2,600 commission. Alice makes a $900 salary, to figure out the total that Alice would take home you will need to add the commission of $2,600 to the $900 salary to see that he made a total of $3,500.
4% X $65,000 = $2,600 Commission= $2,600
$2,600 + $900 = $3,500 Total take home= $3,500
