There are some differences in pronunciation and different grammar forms that are used. However, these two variations of Spanish are mutually understandable by speakers from each country, as is the case with almost all dialects of the Spanish language.
One of the biggest pronunciation differences is that Iberian Spanish (from Spain), has a tendency to pronounce the letters S and Z as /th/ when they fall in the middle of a word.
One of the biggest grammar variations is that Iberian Spanish uses the 'vosotros' form of the third person plural whereas all other variations of Spanish only use 'ustedes'. In fact, 'vosotros' is rarely taught in Spanish as a foreign classes because it is not used outside of Spain.
