This question depends on your definition of right and wrong. General MacArthur did go against the President's orders about publishing information to the public. General MacArthur's' opinions that he shared with the public were also opposed to the President's views. I would tend to believe that going against the directions of a superior is most of the times wrong, however there are times in which going against a superior is appropriate for example if they called you to do something morally wrong. However in this situation I have a hard time believing President Truman's orders were against General MacArthur's morals, therefore President Truman seems justified in firing General MacArthur.
