I am first going to find the slope, and then the y-intercept.
i) To find the slope, use m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
→ m = (-4 - 2) / (1 - [-1])
→ m = -6 / 2
→ m = -3
ii) Now, using either of the given points with the slope intercept form, y = mx + b, solve for b.
I am going to use (1, -4)
→ -4 = -3(1) + b
→ b = -1
→ y = -3x + (-1)
→ y = -3x -1.
