Determine the sign of the sum of –18 + 11.

I am trying to find the answer, if it is a positive or a negative and explain why it is. Thanks.

So since you owe, it is -7. Use a number line. Start at -18. Then go 11 units to the right (that's + 11). At what number do you stop?
