First of all, let "n" be the number you're looking for.
Two more than a number means: n + 2.
As you mentioned, quotient means division, so: (n+2)/5 = 8
You gotta find the value of "n". To do so:
- Move the "5" to the other side as a multiplication: n+2 = 5*8, n+2 = 40
- Move the "2" to the other side as a subtraction: n = 40 -2, n = 38.
