The 1920s was the period following the First World War often times referred to as "The Roaring 20s". During the 1920s in America, many advancements were made (the most notable being assembly line production and easy credit) allowing the average American to be able to consume more goods than previously. Many new and more affordable products (thanks to credit expansion) hit the market including radios, cars, clothing and other new technology. With this new boom in consumerism, advertising begin to play a central role in this new American economy. Many middle class Americans also found themselves in a time of prosperity, as their earnings rose and they had more of a disposable income With new advancements in production like the assembly line, manufacturers were able to reduce labor costs and allow for more efficiency within the factories. As well as this, after the war, folks were so happy to be home safe that they often times found a new lease on life and wanted to have fun and be happy because the war made them see how short life was.
