The answer to that question would depend on who you were and where you live. If you were a poor southerner, the existence of slaves might affect the common laborer jobs available. (Can you write about that? Hint: Slaves work for nothing.)
If you were a northerner, say, in Massachusetts where there were no slaves, do you think you would be affected by southern slavery? How about your own moral objections? Hint: Look up the abolitionist movement and talk a little about that.)
