Dustin invests $5400 in two different accounts. The first account paid 10 %, the second account paid 11 % in interest. At the end of the first year he had earned $550 in interest. How much was in each account?

.1x + .11(5400-x) = 550

.1x + 594 -.11x = 550

-.01x = -44

Multiply both sides by -100

x = 4400

Therefore 4400 was in the 10% account and 1000 was in the 11% account
