two step equations word problem

Question

Cookies are on sale! Today each cookie costs $0.75 less than the normal price. Right now if you buy 7 of them it will only cost you $2.80. what was the normal price?

i got behind on word problems with equations and i need some help.

Right now they are 280/7= 40 cents each while on sale.

Normally they cost 40+75 = 115 cents = $1.15

If P is the normal price, the price today is P-0.75 and the cost for 7 is 2.80 Therefore:

7(P-0.75)=2.80 -> P-0.75=0.40 -> P=1.15
