A. 1-Methycycloheptene
You can use 2 methods to prepare 1-methycycloheptanol from 1-methycycloheptene.
The first reaction is a hydration where you combine 1-methycycloheptene with water and dilute sulfuric acid as a catalyst to form 1-methycycloheptanol.
The second method is an oxymercuration-demercuration reaction. Both of the above reactions will follow a Markovnikov addition to the C=C double bond of the alkene.
