rates are equal

r1 = 100/(x + 2)

r2 = 50/(x)

r1 = r2

100/(x + 2) = 50/(x)

100 = (x + 2)(50)/x

100x = (x + 2)50

100x = 50x + 100

50x = 100

x = 2 hours for the car that drove 50 miles

x+2 = 4 hours for the car that drove 100 miles

each rate was 25 mi/hr
