Thank you, Robert, for seeking help on your math problem. Although I can not answer your question for you, I would like to point you in the right direction. The numbers used in your problem can be troublesome because of their use of decimals and digits. I might suggest you think of these as whole numbers when you are first approaching this problem in order to find your way and establish your strategy. .
Now that you have simplified it a bit it might be easier to understand.
If you are comfortable with addition and subtraction, you will be doing that a lot in this problem. Once you realize you are starting with a certain amount, (your account balance), you are will be adding or subtracting as you go along in the story, depending upon whether you are receiving money or spending money.
I hope this helps. Remember, when you add or subtract decimal numbers, be sure to line up your decimal points! Remember to add a dollar sign and of course, check your work when you are done. The use of a chart is a great tool. I hope this helps! Pam S.
