Hi Eunice!
All you need to do is divide 12$ by 16$ to find the ratio of these two numbers.
Step 1: Divide 12 by 16 to get 12/16 which is a ratio of 12:16
Step 2: Notice that both 12 and 16 are divisible by 4, so simplify the ratio by dividing both 12 and 16 by four to get 3/4 or 3:4.
Step 3: Subtract 3/4 from 1 to get 1/4. Hence, you are saving 1/4 of the price.
Step 4: (Only do this if they ask for percent savings) 1 divided by 4 equals .25. Multiply .25 by 100% to get a total savings of 25%.
I hope this helps!
