First they squared both sides of the equation to remove the square root sign. Then, they divided both sides by 9.8 to solve for d to get 2.654081633. Then they rounded to four decimal places following the decimal point. I'm not sure why it wasn't rounded to 2.6541 however since 8 > 5.
