[Math] Finding density of the object

Question

Approximate the volume of each object whose mass is given. Then find the mass per unit of volume, or density, of each object.

 

The problem is, I don't know where to start.

The picture in your link is a rectangular solid with L = 20 cm, W = 10 cm and H = 5.7 cm.

 

You are asked to calculate the density of this object.  density = mass / volume.  Mass of the object in the picture is 2.3 kg.

 

So first, we need to calculate the volume of this rectangular solid.

 

V = L x W x H = 20 x 10 x 5.7 = 1140 cm³

 

density = mass / volume

 

             = 2.3 kg / 1140 cm³ = 0.0020 kg / cm³

 Density = Mass/Voume

 

 Mass = 2.3 kg

 

Volume = 20 x 10 x 5.7

 

           = 20 x 57

            = 1140 cubic centimeters

 

Density = 2.3 / 1140 = 0.002017543859649122807.... kg per cubic centimeter
