This was in my end of year test and was the only one i got wrong but i cant seem to find the answer even after long contemplation

1st=(1+2)2, 2nd=(2+2)2, 3rd=(3+2)2, 4th=(4+2)2, nth=(n+2)2

9, 16, 25, 36,...n

a1 = 32 = (1+2)2

 
a2 = 42 = (2+2)2

 
a3 = 52 = (3+2)2 .....  an = (n+2)2
