Parallel lines have the SAME slope.
Perpendicular lines have slopes that are NEGATIVE RECIPROCALS. [That is , FLIP OVER the Fraction AND CHANGE the Sign]
For example, suppose the given line has slope 3.
Then the parallel line ALSO has a slope of 3.
The perpendicular line has slope -1/3
---------------------------------------------------------
Another example:
suppose the given line has slope 2/5
The line parallel to that has slope 2/5
The line perpendicular to that has slope -5/2
