5*TM + 3*JB = 2000

 

2*TM + 6*JB = 1400

 

 

-10*TM + -6JB = -4000

 2*TM + 6*JB = 1400

 

-8*TM = -2600

 

TM = -2600/-8 = 2600/8 = 1300/4 = 650/2 = 325

 

1 pound of trail mix costs $3.25

 

2*325 + 6*jb = 1400

 

650 + 6*jb = 1400

 

6*jb = 1400 - 650

 

6*jb = 750

 

jb = 750/6 = 250/2 = 125 

So the jelly beans cost $1.25 per pound

 

CHECK:

 

   5*$3.25 + 3*1.25  =  $20

 

  2*3.25 + 6*1.25 = 14
