I agree with Mark that the question is very broad, which makes it tough to answer. That said, there has been some follow-up on Sybil's story suggesting that her recovered memories of abuse, resulting in her multiple personality disorder, were coaxed out of her -- or into her -- by her therapist, Cornelia Wilbur. Indeed, the entire "recovered memory" movement remains a minefield of violent disagreement. It has not caught the public's attention as strongly in the last several years. This is ironic given that the "MeToo" movement is about abuse as well. However, Sybil's case was about parental abuse while MeToo is sexual abuse, usually perpetrated by a male on a female. Not all cases fit this description, of course, but the vast majority do. A major difference is that MeToo events aren't forgotten and then recovered through hypnosis; they are barely suppressed.
For sources, I would suggest major psychiatric journals or even The Skeptical Inquirer, which has covered the Sybil case specifically and recovered memory in general for some years, now.
