Remember A = L * W where A equals area, L equals length, and W equals width. 

Therefore: 

Let the width be x.
Then the length is 1.5x."

The area of a rectangular field is 150 square yd. Remember "is" in a word problem means equal to. 


Therefore: 

1.5x*x=150
x^2=100
x=10 yards

Therefore, and according to the properties of a rectangle, the following applies: 

Each angle is equal to 90 degrees, and both lengths and widths will be the same as a second property. 

This is why the P = 2 (L * W) where P equals the perimeter, L equals the length, and W equals the width. 

Since W was assigned as x we have identified the width, correct? 

That leaves us to determine the length which we are told is 1.5 times x or 1.5 * 10 which equals 15. 

Therefore: Length is 15 and Width is 10. 

To determine the perimeter as I we just discussed, P = 2(L + W). 

Plugging in the above values we arrive at the following: 

P = 2 (15 + 10) 

P = 2 (25) 

P = 50
