you know the perimeter of a square or rectangle is the sum of all the sides.
The square has 4 equal sides.
The rectangle has two pairs of equal sides, the length and the width. The length doesn't equal the width because if it did you would have a square.
So the perimeter of the square if one side is 4x - 1 is 4(4x - 1)
And the perimeter of the rectangle is 2(2x + 1) + 2(x + 2)
The question says the perimeters of the square and rectangle are equal.
From this information above, can you write the equation and then solve for x?
