To answer your question let's review the concept of absolute values.

 

Recall that any number between the absolute value bars will become positive.

 

Case

 

| 5 | = 5

|-5 | = 5

 

For your problem, we can remove the absolute value bars and create two equations for your problem.

 

Problem 1:

(2n + 1) = -n + 1

 

Problem 2:

-(2n + 1) = -n + 1

 

Now that you have a place to start, I'll leave this to you. 

 

Be sure to resubstitute your answers into the original equation at the end. Both solutions for n must produce positive answers.
