P = 2l + 2w

12 = 2x + 2(1/4)x

12 = 2x + (1/2)x

12 = (5/2)x     Multiply both sides by 2/5.

4 4/5 km = x

(1/4)x = (1/4)(24/5) = 1 1/5 km

A = lw

A = (24/5)(6/5)

A = 5 19/25 km²
