I love math, and I love to teach it.
Hello, Iris,
This y= (-3/4) x −6 is a linear equation because x is really to the first power x1=x. Standard Form for a linear equation is as follows: ax+by=c, where a, b, and c are whole numbers or integers.
1. Multiply all terms by -4: -4y= (-3/4)(-4)x− (6)(-4). -4y= 12x+24
2. Move the 12x to the other side of equation by subtracting 12x from both sides of equation.
3. Since the "a" in ax needs to be positive, just multiply every term by a -1.
