P is a rectangle with the length 40 cm and width of x cm Q is a rectangle with a width of y the length of Q is 25% more than the lenght of P the area of Q is 10% less then the are of P

L = 40 cm, w = x cm for rectangle P

for rectangle Q w=y L= 1.25(40) = 50 cm

Area of Q is 10% less than area of P= 90% of P's area

Area = Lw

Area of P = 40x, Area of Q = .90(40x) = 36x =50y

36x =50y

18x = 25y

x = 25y/18

y = 18x/25

P's area = 40x = 40(25y/18) 500y/9

Q's area =50y= 50(18x/25) = 36x = 10% less than 40x
