Angular speed

Question

A winch is 30cm in diameter. The cable wrapped around it is pulled at 8 ft/s. Find the angular speed of the drum in revs per minute

ω·r = v

• ω = angular velocity
• r = radius = 30 cm
• v = tangential velocity = 8 ft/sec

 

Solve the equation for ω.  Be sure to put the radius and velocity into the same system of units
