3.0% by mass NaCl means 3 g NaCl in a total of 100 g solution. (note it is g of total solution)
So, if 3 grams will make 100 g of solution, how many g of solution can be made from 160 g?
Use proportions or use dimensional analysis:
- proportions: 3 g NaCl/160 g NaCl = 100 g solution/x g solution; x = 5333 g solution
- dimensional analysis: 160 g NaCl x 100 g solution/3 g NaCl = 5333 g solution
