an ideal gas in a sealed container has an initial volume of 2.65 L. at constant pressure, it is cooled to 18.00 degrees C where its final volume is 1.75 L.

what was the initial temperature?

I have great admiration for you and your answers, but I think this one is incorrect.  Please see my answer and comments.

J.R. S.,

V1/T1 = V2/T⇒ T1 = T2V1/V2

The second equation in your solution should have a ratio on both sides, not a product.

T2 = 18°C = (18 + 273)K = 291 K

T1 = T2V1/V2 = (291 K)(2.65 L)]/](1.75 L) K ≅ 441 K = 168°C

This shows the temperature went down from T1 to T2, i.e. from 168°C to 18°C, or 441 K to 291 K, while the volume went down from 2.65 L to 1.75 L.  Note that it should also be true that

V1/V2 = T1/T2

(2.65 L)/(1.75 L) ≅ 1.51

(441 K)/(291 K) ≅ 1.52

The second line in your solution should be a ratio, not a product.

Yep.  I was hasty and reversed the values.  I have fixed the problem.  Thank you.
