                  I am looking at your equation....is it

                   3b  +  4b²  -  a³  =

 

If this is your equation...I won't give you the answer, that would be too easy, however, I am going to help you set it up. then you will know how to do these kind of problems, making you a pro. So you much be learning about PEMDAS.... the Order of Operation...RIGHT?

                                  

             This is your expression and I am assuming you are to solve it

         3b + 4b² - a³ =         and you have been given a = -1  and  b = 2

                           

so what you are doing to do is write your equation and wherever you have an a you will substitute it with a -1 and a  b   with 2   Like this:

 

                  3b + 4b² - a³ =

                  3(2) +  4(2)²  -  (-1)³  =   ?

 

Next thing is to complete the math operations:

 

         (3•2) + 4(2•2) - (-1•-1•-1)  =  ?   RIGHT? You see what need to do

 

Here's a HINT:    (3•2) + 4(2•2) - (-1)   = (3•2) + 4(2•2) +1 =

   

Make sure you know what you did. You should be able to do the rest.
