Okay....here is an example and how it is solved. Just follow the example>
let's say I have a decimal number.... 7. 50 and l want to change this to a fraction
Let's look at the place values of this number...the 7 is in the ones place the 5 is in the tenths place and the 0 is in the hundredths place
This is like a mixed fraction....so with that in mind the first number would be 7. Now we have to change the decimal to a fraction. Since the most significant value...we can either say 0 is in the hundredths place. If we do then our fractions would be 50/100. By reducing or factoring we can change that to 5/10 and then down to 1/2...correct? Got that?
If we say the more significant place value is the 5 then we can eliminate one step and say 5/10 and get the same answer 1/2.
Now combine the 2 values together 7 1/2...would that be the same as 7.50...we can rewrite that to 7.5.
Now its your turn to do the same with the value your teacher gave you.
