Would it be unusual for one of the test subjects to have a pulse rate of 127.8 beats per minute?

A certain group of test subjects had pulse rates with a mean of 84.6 beats per minute and a standard deviation of 11.6 beats per min.

For some reason, I keep getting the incorrect answer for minimum and maximum "usual" value per minute.

Any help would be appreciated

Tracy N.

Minimun is : (84.6) - 2 x (11.6) = 61.4
Maximun is : (84.6) + 2 x (11.6) = 107.8

You should remember this Minimum "usual" value = (mean) - 2 x (standard deviation) and Maximum "usual" value = (mean) + 2 x (standard deviation).
