Getting a negative result from outlier equation and i have no negative values in my data. Help!

Hello, I'm trying to find outliers in my data so i can remove them using the equation: (Q1-1.5x IQR). My Q1 is 586.75 and my IQR is 1938.75. However, Im getting a negative result for this. Can anyone help me with this?

It's true that you should get a negative value.  Plugging into the equation, you have 586.75 - 1.5(1938.75) = -2321.375

 

That's the lower range value.  You also need to calculate the upper range using your Q3 value (the formula is Q3 + 1.5*IQR)

 

 

Any number outside of this range is an outlier.
