Ratio Question (In the description)

Question

The ratio of people who own a smartphone to the number of people who own a flip phone is 4:3. If 500 more people own a smartphone than a flip phone, how many people own each type of phone?

Let f = the number of people who own a flip phone

Let f + 500 = the number of people who own a smart phone

(f+500)/f = 4/3

4f = 3f + 1500

f = 1500 flip phones

smartphones: f + 500 = 1500 + 500 = 2000
