In in a city 12% of households earn less than 30000 rupees per year, 6% households earn more than 200000 rupees per year, 22% households earn more than rupees 100000 per year and 990 households earn between 30000 rupee and 100000 rupees per year. How many households earn between rupee 100000 and rupees 200000 per year?

<30,000 = 12%

>200,000 = 6%

>100,000 = 22%

 

The percentage between 30,000 and 100,000 is 100%-12%-22%=66%

66% of the population = 990 households

66%*P=990 so P=990/66% giving P=1500 households

 

Now solving for between 100,000 and 200,000:

22% make more than 100,000 but only 6% make more than 200,000 so you have to subtract the two

22%-6%=16%

And since you already solved the total number of households you just have to multiply that by 16%

16%*1500=240 households
