Plant population is under competition for its co-existence with multiple species and competition is the major factor that affects the co-existence of species. A typical plant population contains genetic variation and usually adapts very well to altered  ecological  environment. Therefore, during competition for co-existence environmental variation imparts stronger effect on the survival and existence of plant population thantheir genotype.
