finding the percent.

kids were asked to chose what they would rather do. 4 kids selected texting while 16 kids selected hanging out with friends. What percent of all the kids asked would select texting as their fav activity? So the total is 20 kids. 4 chose texting. I got o.8 percent but I know that's wrong because that is not a choice on my paper. Please help. Thanks

4/20 = 1/5 = 20%  

 

Your 0.8 is quite wrong because that's 16/20 (ratio of hangers out to total) and that's 4/5 = 0.8 but 0.8 is 80 %

4/20 = 1/5 = 0.20

 

0.20 * 100 = 20%
