Graph the function  f(x) =2 - sqrt x +6.  State the range of this function.

Hi Cameron, is the +6 inside the square root too? Like this ..
f(x) = 2 - √(x+6)

f(x) = 2 - √(x+6)   
I am going to answer this in the shortest way possible.
The function value is 2 when the square root term is zero.
In every other case, function values will be something less than 2 because a positive number is being subtracted.
Therefore range is (-infinity,2].
 
Roger, obviously we all agree, but I found your explanation to be needlessly complex, partly due, I suppose, to the unconventional "-ve and +ve" and I bring this up just as a gentle reminder to answer questions as straightforwardly as possible.
