In plan A, the customer pays a monthly fee of $28.80 and then an additional 6 cents per minute use in plan B the customer pays a monthly fee of $20 and than an additional 8 cents per minute of use. For what amount of monthly phone use will plan A cost less ban plan B

We need to solve the following inequality:

 

28.80 + 0.06x < 20 + 0.08x

 

where x = the additional minutes of use

 

8.80 < 0.02x

 

880 < 2x

 

440 < x or x > 440

 

Once the user exceeds 440 minutes, then Plan A will be cheaper than plan B.
