Write the dilution ratio that was performed, as a fraction in lowest terms

A 20% solution of NaCl in H2O is diluted, by adding distilled water, to a final concentration of 6% NaCl. A 20% solution of NaCl in H2O is diluted, by adding distilled water, to a final concentration of 6% NaCl. Write the dilution ratio that was performed, as a fraction in lowest terms.

(x ml)(20%) = (100 ml)(\6%)

x = 30

So, the dilution ratio is 1:30 or 30 ml qs 100 ml = 1:3.3333.....   Dilution are confusing unless one knows what the ratio is in reference to.  So 1:30 could mean 1 ml to a final vol of 30 ml or it could mean 1 ml + 29 ml.  That is why qs may be preferred.
