Finding a ratio answer

ina school the ratio of boys to girls is 4:3. there are 216 boys . how many girls are there ?.

Assume that there are G girls

 

216/G=4/3

 

G=216*3/4=54*3=162

 

There are 162 girls.

Answer 2

Ratio of boys to girls is 4:3

So 4 out of every 7 student is a boy,

and 3 out of every 7 students is a girl

 

(4/7)x = 216

x = 216(7/4) = 54(7) = 378 students

 

(3/7)(378) = 3(54) = 162 girls

 

Of course, you could also say

378 students - 216 boys = 162 girls
